Bold Impact Africa on 8th August 2025 partnered with FreshGuard Technologies to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing farmers in Kenya—post-harvest losses. Every year, hardworking farmers lose between 30–60% of their fresh produce before it reaches the market, leading to wasted food and lost income. On Friday, 8 August 2025, at the University of Nairobi, Upper Kabete Campus, FreshGuard Academy and partners successfully trained selected Trainer-of-Trainers (ToTs) drawn from smallholder farmer groups across Kenya to keep produce fresh, safe, and sellable.
During this intensive one-day workshop, participants gained hands-on experience in low-cost cooling and drying solutions, proper sorting and packaging techniques aligned with KS1758, and simple value addition methods to reduce waste and boost sales. They also learned what it takes to meet both domestic and export market standards, including EU requirements. By the end of the training, each participant was equipped not only to protect their own produce but also to train others in their farmer groups and communities, creating a ripple effect of impact.
