Bold Impact Africa in partnership with Kenyatta University, Ruiru Water and Sewerage Company (RUJUWASCO), YALI Regional Leadership Centre East Africa, Kenyatta University community Resource Management club, Vijana African Voices Africa and other partners observed the World Water day 2023 on 22nd March 2023 at Kenyatta University. The theme of the World Water Day 2023 was “Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.” The theme emphasized on the requirement for stern action to protect the world from the water crisis.
The event kicked off with a 2 kilometer walk from the University main campus gate to the Business Services and Students Centre where speeches and presentations on innovations in water were made. The event was officially opened by the Managing director Ruiru Water and Sewerage Company, Eng. Simon Mwangi, who reiterated the need of collaborations with all the stakeholders to make voluntary commitments to accelerating progress on SDG 6 and other internationally-agreed water-related goals and targets.
Bold Impact Africa director, Mr. Simon Nyaga, encouraged the youth attending the water event to adopt and come up with innovations in the water ecosystem that will solve the water crisis in a water crisis to water innovations model.
Participants attending the event were urged and encouraged to take action in their lives to change how they use, consume and manage water. The celebration of this World Water Day coincided with the start of the UN 2023 Water Conference (March 22-24, New York). The conference is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to unite the world around solving the water and sanitation crisis.
