Simon Wanjiru is the Founder and Director of Bold Impact Africa (BIA), a youth-led non-profit organization promoting sustainable livelihoods in agroecology, climate smart agriculture, climate education and agricultural advocacy. A 2021 Mandela Washington Fellowship alumnus in Civic Engagement at Kansas State University’s Staley School of Leadership Studies and a U.S. Department of State 2024 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) awardee to Promote inclusive farmer livelihoods through adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices and technologies in potato production. His leadership excellence was further recognized through his 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship LINC grant-winning project, where he led initiatives in Maputo, Mozambique, to strengthen the resilience and capabilities of persons with disabilities in agriculture, food advocacy, and digital marketing.
With over nine years of expertise in agroecological training, Simon has worked extensively across arid, semi-arid, and marginalized regions of Kenya and Mozambique, empowering women, youth, and persons with disabilities to adopt agroecology and climate-smart agricultural practices. Under his leadership, BIA has trained over 5,000 farmers in regenerative farming practices such as composting, intercropping, and soil regeneration enhancing productivity and resilience in nine counties in Kenya. Bold Impact Africa has also planted over 250,000 trees (with 80% survival rate) through its agroforestry and ecosystem restoration programs, contributing to land rehabilitation, biodiversity conservation, and improved soil health.

Together with teams in Africa and the United States, he has contributed to the development of a web-based platform called Read Your Soil (RYS) which helps farmers anywhere in the world to understand what their soil needs and to improve it accurately without the need for a soil testing laboratory. Simon also has extensive experience in agricultural policy, lobby and advocacy having contributed to the development, review and implementation of policies, regulations, strategies and standards in Kenya. He has worked with various national bodies such as Ministry of Agriculture, Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), various county governments and private sector players to develop key policy documents such as the Agriculture Sector Transformation and Growth Strategy (ASTGS), the national potato strategy, capital markets (commodity markets) regulations, Kenya youth agribusiness strategy and various county potato strategies (Nyandarua, Nakuru, Bungoma, Nyeri and Elgeyo Marakwet). Simon serves in the U.S. – Kenya alumni association as the chapter lead for the central and Nairobi Chapter and serves in the management boards of The Green Embassy Kenya (TGEK) and Shiriki Action

Kamau Njoroge is the youth agricultural coordinator at Bold Impact Africa. He has 5 years’ experience in agroecology and climate-smart agricultural empowerment and a MSc. In animal Science and management.
Through Bold Impact Africa, Kamau has developed programs that promote climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry and agroecology among youth to build a sustainable food system and create decent employment opportunities. His work focuses on youth-friendly capacity-building initiatives and policy advocacy, empowering more than 2,500 young people and building a network of over 1,000 young farmers across Kenya.
Through his work at BIA, Kamau was appointed to serve as the National Youth Representative of the Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF), where he advocates for and lobbies on behalf of young farmers to ensure their interests are represented in agricultural policies and decision-making.

Nelly Akinyi is a compliance and risk operations manager at Bold Impact Africa. She has over three years of experience in anti-money laundering, know your customer, Know Your Business, and Financial Crime Risk Management. She is skilled in customer and Enhanced Due Diligence, sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons screening, transaction monitoring, and fraud detection and prevention. At BIA, she demonstrates her strong analytical skills, attention to detail to protect BIA’s financial systems and strengthen compliance and accountability. She holds a MSc. in Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a BSc. in Community Resource Management from Kenyatta University. She is a certified anti-money Laundering Specialist from Global Compliance Institute.

Rose Wangari is a dedicated and results-driven accountant with strong expertise in project finance management, reporting, and compliance. With extensive experience in handling donor-funded and community-based projects, she has built a solid track record in ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective use of resources.
Her professional background includes preparing and analyzing financial statements, budget tracking, cost sharing, and reconciliation of multi-fund projects. Rose has successfully implemented financial systems that support organizational growth and strengthen reporting accuracy for decision-making.
Beyond her technical accounting skills, Rose brings a deep commitment to impact-driven financial stewardship. She is passionate about helping organizations maintain financial integrity while achieving sustainable results for communities. Her approach combines analytical precision with a strong sense of teamwork and purpose.
Rose continues to advance her expertise in financial audits, grants management, and project reporting, aligning with global accounting standards and donor requirements. She is driven by the belief that every shilling spent should create measurable change and lasting impact.

Ms. Faith Mutuku is a Kenyan university alumna with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Resource Management. She began her professional journey at Bold Impact Africa. Starting as an intern, her dedication and leadership saw her rise through the ranks to her current position as Liaison, Partnerships, and Communication Officer.
In this role, Ms. Mutuku plays a pivotal part in strengthening relationships with stakeholders, coordinating partnerships, and leading the organization’s communication strategies to enhance visibility and collaboration. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing sustainable agricultural practices, empowering farmers, and fostering inclusive community development.

Eva Chanya is a uniquely positioned professional who bridges the critical gap between high-level agricultural policy and on-the-ground implementation. With over 15 years of dedicated service to the CAADP framework—from the Malabo Declaration through to the recent Kampala Declaration—she combines the pragmatic perspective of a small-scale farmer from Kajiado, Kenya, with the strategic expertise of a seasoned project and events coordinator for continental agricultural development.

As an operations expert with the African Union Commission’s Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture (2013-2021), Eva was instrumental in the operationalization of CAADP. Her hands-on leadership was pivotal in:

· Coordinating the CAADP Biennial Review Process: She managed the complex logistics, training, and stakeholder coordination for the Biennial Review trainings across all 55 AU Member States and Regional Economic Communities, a cornerstone of the Malabo Declaration’s mutual accountability framework.
· Facilitating High-Level Dialogue: Eva expertly managed ministerial conferences, heads of state summits, and donor coordination meetings, ensuring seamless collaboration between governments, development partners, and implementing agencies.
· Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Engagement: Her role involved continuous liaison with CAADP stakeholders at all levels, from farmers’ groups to international partners, fostering the inclusive partnerships essential for CAADP’s success.

Eva’s unparalleled value lies in her dual identity. As an avid small-scale farmer, she brings the lived reality of African agriculture to the policy table. This grassroots experience, combined with her policy work, makes her an authentic and powerful voice for practical impact.

Her commitment to inclusive policy extends beyond CAADP, evidenced by her work with UNDP on Policy Dialogue for the Informal Economy and with UNEP on the One Health programme, highlighting her understanding of the cross-sectoral nature of sustainable development.
